I cant quite believe its been 4 months since I left home and set off on my travels, its true what they say time really does fly by when you are having fun. As a self proclaimed procrastinator its no surprise that I'm only now just getting around to this blog post. In my defends up until now travelling has been pretty go, go, go and the days that have been a little more relaxed, well, thats all I’ve wanted to do, relax. Im in Fiji at the moment and most of the islands I am visiting are so remote that there isn’t much to do other than lay on the beach and catch a tan so this has been the perfect opportunity for me to finally sort out all my photos and start writing up all my adventures. So here goes nothing! The first of many travel destinations I have to share with you all… first stop LA.
Ever since being in my teens I’ve always wanted to visit California. I was completely obsessed with the TV show ‘The Hills’ when I was growing up and couldn’t wait to visit one day, so you can imagine how excited I was when this was the first stop on my travels (has anyone else seen that they are bringing the show back? IM TOO EXCITED).

One of the things I loved most about LA is how outdoorsy it is. One thing I’ve learned about myself during my travels is how much I LOVE to hike and LA has some really cool hiking trails which give you some incredible views. I did two hikes while in LA - The Hollywood Hills Hike and Eaton Canyon. The Hollywood Hills Hike was my favourite out of the two just because the views were incredible! But both were great for working up a sweat.
Santa Monica Beach was one of my favourite parts of LA! The beach was beautiful and there was so much going on around. The atmosphere really was amazing, it felt like it gave you a real look into the Cali lifestyle! Me and the girls decided to rent bikes out a couple of times while down in Santa Monica and biked along the beach down to Venice Beach, Muscle Beach and all the way down to Manhattan Beach. It was a really fun way of getting around and seeing all the different areas. Venice and Muscle Beach have a really quirky and cool vibe about them during the day! Its always full of people and there is something going on in every direction you look - people skating, biking, performing, all sorts!
The food in LA was absolutely A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! I actually think its been one of my favourite places for food so far on my travels. Rawberri was without a doubt my favourite place for breakfast, their acai bowls were UNREAL! I cant even remember all the places I ate at as there were so many but they were all super yummy and had lots of options for plant-based eaters.
Melrose Avenue was one of my favourite streets in LA. I actually found out about Melrose Avenue through many of the fashion and travel bloggers that I follow on Instagram. Its for sure one of the most ‘Instagrammable’ streets you will ever walk down with its many colourful and slogan walls. As you can see me and Freya like everyone else got our ‘Instagram’ on. I mean if you didn’t get a photo in-front of the Paul Smith pink wall did you even go to LA?
Rodeo Drive is without a doubt the most expensive street I have ever walked down in all my life! I have never seen so many designer shops and flashy cars down one road. As tempting as it was to walk into all of them and spend my life savings, I thankfully resisted temptation and stuck to just window shopping. I actually think the only shop I stepped into that afternoon was a Starbucks (my mum would be so proud).
I wouldn’t call myself much of a party girl anymore, I'm actually much more of a nana these days but I really did love the LA nightlife and ended up partying a lot while in LA. Everyone in California was SUPER friendly so it was really easy to make friends on nights out and the bars and clubs were so much fun. Highlight Room and Doheny Room were two of my favourites!
I ventured out to Malibu a couple of times whilst in LA and I’m glad because it was a really pretty drive and Malibu itself is an absolute dream. I couldn’t actually believe the size of some of the houses we drove past and the houses on the beach front were to die for. One of my favourite memories from Malibu was when me and Freya were laying on the beach one late afternoon and out of nowhere a dolphin jumped through the waves right in front of us! I couldn’t believe how close to the shore it was! I’ve never seen a dolphin in the wild like that before, it was pretty incredible! Sometimes I really wish my eyes were a camera so I could capture those magical moments. Maybe this will be my great big invention that makes me my first million (don’t go stealing my idea now).

Where to eat/drink:
LA has the most AMAZING food. If you are plant-based then you are in for a treat!
- Rawberri (acai bowls to die for)
- Beverly Hills Hotel (its a ‘must do’ while in LA, although I wouldn’t order an acai bowl as they are much better at Rawberri and its a third of the price)
- Pink Taco (10/10 SOO GOOD)
- D’Amore’s Pizza Malibu (good pizzeria with vegan option)
- Alfred Tea Room (good tea, really pretty interior)
- Mamas Shelter (beautiful rooftop bar, good in the day and night)
- Mondrian Room (rooftop bar with pool)
- Highlight Room (my favourite club, had the best night here! Beautiful rooftop bar/club)
- Doheny Room (restaurant downstairs, club upstairs! Quite small but good music and crowd)
- Perch (rooftop bar with some incredible views)
- Poppy (cool nightclub/cocktail lounge)

Where to stay:
I don’t actually have any recommendations for hostels/hotels in LA as I stayed in Airbnb’s during my time in LA and also throughout the whole of California. Hostels and hotels are expensive in California so it works out much cheaper to stay in Airbnb’s. I did however stay in 3 different locations while in LA so I can give some tips on areas:
- West Hollywood (this was probably one of my favourite areas of the 3. It felt safe, trendy, was super close to bars/restaurants and tourist attractions like Melrose Avenue, Sunset Boulevard/Strip, Runyon Canyon, Griffith Observatory and the Hollywood Hills Hike)
- Mid-Wilshire/Wilshire Boulevard (this was also one of my favourite areas of the 3. It was super close to restaurants/bar, The Grove, shops and Santa Monica Beach)
- Downtown LA (this was my least favourite area of the 3. It felt a-bit more rundown here and not as safe as the other 2 areas. But that being said there is lots of tourist attractions in downtown LA and some nice parts too)

Things to do:
- Visit Santa Monica Pier
- Rent bikes down Santa Monica Beach and bike to Muscle Beach and Venice Beach
- Spend an afternoon at Venice Beach
- Visit the Griffith Observatory
- Do a Hollywood Hills Hike
- Go to Rawberri for an acai bowl
 - Lunch at Beverly Hills Hotel
- Eat at Pink Taco
- Take photos down Melrose Avenue
 - Window shop down Rodeo Drive
- Hire a car and drive around Beverly Hills/LA
- Spend a day in Malibu
- Take a hike through Runyon Canyon Park
- Hike Eaton Canyon
- Get bikes out in Santa Monica and bike to Manhattan Beach
- Take a stroll down the famous Hollywood Walk Of Fame
- Take a walk down Sunset Boulevard/Strip
- Visit a rooftop bar for cocktails

I made some amazing memories in LA and I honestly cant quite believe how quickly my time there went! Without even trying LA has stolen a piece of my heart. From the friendliest of people to the epic scenery, the beautiful beaches and OMG the FOOD! I will be back thats for sure.

Next stop: Palm Springs, see you all there! x

I can not quite believe we are already in October.. It is actually crazy thinking about where this year has gone. Honestly, I can't keep up!

It was June just the other day and I was sipping cocktails on the beach in Barcelona with my girls and now I find myself buying every fur coat I can get my hands on just to try keep warm! I will admit though.. as much as I moan about the cold weather it is without a doubt my favourite time of year for styling.

This is the second jacket I have added to my Autumn/Winter wardrobe so far this year and I think it is fair to say it will be another one you will find me in a lot over the next few months. It has faux fur throughout the whole inside of the jacket and it is the ideal length sitting just below the waist. I have seen a few of these about recently however this is without a doubt one of the best quality ones I have come across. The best bit? Its under £60! Direct link can be found below..
